The War Memorial for Swinton (South Yorkshire), is located in Church Street. The memorial is in the form of a cross with a Sword of Sacrifice placed in the centre of the cross.

The memorial commemorates 203 men who lost their lives in the First World War, and 48 from the Second World War. A transcription of the names on the memorial, with brief biographical data, can be found on the Roll of Honour website.

One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the memorial for Swinton (South Yorkshire).


Private Frank Firth. 10206. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Frank and Harriet Firth, of 227, Queen St., Swinton, Rotherham. Killed 30 October 1914. Aged 21.
Born Swinton (Rotherham, Yorks), Enlisted Sheffield, Resided Swinton.
Commemorated on Panel 33, YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL.
