The Stoke Golding War Memorial is situated in Stoke Golding Cemetery on Hinckley Road. The names of 21 local men who died in WW1 are commemorated including Private John Woodburn Bloxham and Private Sidney Harris of the Yorkshire Regiment.

Also on the memorial is the name of John Bloxham's brother, L/Cpl Charles William Bloxham, who served in the 1/5th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and who died on 13/10/1915, aged 20. They were the sons of William and Lucy Charlotte (nee Woodburn) Bloxham.


Private John Woodburn Bloxham, 29762. 13th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 31804 Notts & Derby Regt. Killed on 22 March 1918.
Born Stoke Golding (Leicestershire), Enlisted Hinckley, Resided Stoke Golding.
Commemorated on Bay 5, ARRAS MEMORIAL.

Private Sidney Harris, 29746. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 31669 Notts & Derby Regt. Son of Elizabeth Jane Harris, of 86, Bracebridge St., Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Killed 2 September 1916. Aged 22.
Born Honiton (Devon), Enlisted Hinchley (sic), Resided Stoke Golden (sic).
Buried MAROC BRITISH CEMETERY, GRENAY.
