The South Elmsall and Moorthorpe War Memorial is an elaborate market-style cross on a square pillar and fine hexagonal plinth.The commemorative name panels are of marble and are recessed into the sides of the plinth.
The War Memorial is located on the Barnsley Road, South Elmsall, - almost opposite the Methodist Church.
172 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 74 in the Second World War.

(From the Register of Soldiers Effects, William Rhodes sole legatee and Widow
was Margaret.
William Rhodes married Margaret in the June Qtr 1911 in the Hemsworth RD (which
includes South Elmsall). She remarried again at South Elmsall in 1917 to an
Aaron Farmery.

Elmsall.)
