The above photo is of Sidney Young and his second wife after he, and his family, had emigrated to Canada (in 1929).

Sidney's first wife, Sabina Pickett, is shown in the photo below which she had signed, perhaps for him to carry with him when he was away. She and Sidney were married in June1915 and my father Sidney Gordon was born the following January 26th. Their second child, a girl named Mabel Sabina (nickname Bubbles) died September 8 1918 at age 18 months. Then Sidney's wife and 2-day old son George also died March 6 1919. Wife Sabina was 26 years old. Linda Baker has the Memorium Cards which show that they are buried in West Ham Cemetery in London.

LInda Baker wrote "There is a photo of an infant in a furry coat and hat; that is my father Sidney Gordon and supposedly the coat and hat were a gift from the Colonel's wife as my grandfather had saved his life. I don't know the details of that story but I do know my grandfather's family were not well off so it may indeed have been a gift. My father died quite suddenly last September just a few months short of his 92nd birthday; he and his father looked very much alike."

LInda Baker wrote "Also attached is the death notice for Private Sidney Joseph Young from the local (Canadian) newspaper. I remember my grandfather very clearly, his grey pin-striped suit, with watch fob, his thick white hair, and the missing finger/tips of his hands."
