Scorton is a village near Catterick in North Yorkshire. A Roll of Honour for the the parish of Bolton-on-Swale now hangs in the Village Hall, located opposite the old Grammar School across the village Green.

The Roll of Honour is in three sections, - all three being painted on wood mounted in wooden frames. The top section is a dedication to the men of the parish of Bolton-on-Swale who served their country in the First World War.
The central section commemorates 17 men of the parish who lost their lives in the First World War.
The lower section commemorates 80 men of the parish who served their country.

Of the 17 men commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, 7 served with the Yorkshire Regiment.


Private Basil Bennison, 33243. 2nd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Died 4 August 1918.
Born Scorton (Yorks), Enlisted Scorton.
Buried HOUCHIN BRITISH CEMETERY.

Company Quartermaster Sergeant Charles Burini, 7510. 2nd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Lewis and Maria Burini, of Scorton, Darlington. Native of Malton, Yorks. Died 20 March 1915. Aged 23.
Born Malton, Enlisted Richmond (Yorks), Resided Scorton (Darlington).
Buried BOULOGNE EASTERN CEMETERY.

Private Tom Carrick, 28402. 6th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mr. G. W. Carrick, of Crakehill, Topcliffe, Thirsk, Yorks. Died 10 August 1917. Aged 24.
Born Bolton-on-Swale, Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Stanton (Langton, Northallerton)
Buried BRANDHOEK NEW MILITARY CEMETERY.

Private William Fishburn, 3013. 5th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of George William and Sarah Ann Fishburn, of Great Langton-on-Swale, Northallerton, Yorks. Died 12 March 1916. Aged 20.
Enlisted Darlington, Resided Scorton.
Buried ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY.

2nd Lieutenant Edward Earle Jones. 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Edward and Anna Jones, of The Manor House, Scorton, Yorks. Wounded 2nd Battle of Ypres, 1915. Died 1 August 1916. Aged 25.
Buried BAILLEUL COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION (NORD).

Private Arthur Lazenby. 34930. 9th Battalion the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, formerly 5443 the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 16 September 1916.
Born Malton (Yorks), Enlisted Scorton (Yorks).
Buried A.I.F. BURIAL GROUND, FLERS.

Private Frederick Thompson, 24460. 8th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Died 15 October 1916.
