Private Fred NICHOLSON,
148262. Private Fred Nicholson was originally with the 9th Battalion (service number = 16766). He was with the 9th Battalion when it arrived in Boulogne on 27 August 1915. Private Nicholson was wounded in action with the Battalion, thought to be on 1 January 1916 when the Battalion was first involved in a significant action. On recovering from his wounds he was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps, with whom he served the rest of the war. By selecting the photo on the left, you will be taken to a page containing a larger photo of Private Fred Nicholson, his brother Harry (who also served with the Yorkshire Regiment), and other members of the Battalion. We are very grateful to Norman Nicholson (<micknicholson1@btinternet.com>), grandson of Fred Nicholson, for these photos. |
