The Dedication, and Initial Commemorations, on the Memorial in St. Margaret's
Church (Lowestoft)

There is a memorial chapel in the Church of St. Margaret, Lowestoft,
which is dedicated to the commemoration of 728 names of those from Lowestoft
who lost their lives in the First World War. These names are shown on wooden
panels on the side wall of the chapel.
A transcription of all of the names can be found on the Imperial War Museum's
website for War
Memorials in the UK.
Peter
Clarke has photographed the panels, and has kindly allowed this website
the use of his photos.
Additionally, Peter
Clarke has researched the biographical and military details of the names
on the panels, and further information on the soldiers listed below is available
in the associated photos on Flickr.

(On the memorial the name "F Phillips" is shown. However, there
is no matching name for Lowestoft in the CWGC register or SDGW database. A
Christopher Frank Phillips was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in Q1 1896, and
it is therefore likely that this man became known by his middle name.)
Private Henry Taylor. 14625. 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Died
1 August 1916.
