The War Memorial in the church of St. Peter and St. Felix, Kirby Ravensworth,
is a brass plaque installed near the entrance to the church. There are two
panels, - one for the First World War and one for the Second.
(Note : The Ordnance Survey map shows the village to be "Kirby Hill",
but the name "Kirby Ravensworth" is used here)

(1) Shown on the Memorial as "PERCY ALSOP" but this should almost
certainly be "PERCY ALLSOPP"
(2) Shown on the memorial as "EDWARD FRANKLIN" but this should almostcertainly
be "EDWARD FRANKLAND".

Killed 21 March 1918.

Company Serjeant Major John Clifford Bainbridge. 2408. 4th Battalion
Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mary I. Bainbridge, of Park Farm, Ravensworth,
Richmond, Yorks, and the late William Bainbridge. Killed 17 September 1916.
Aged 30.
Born Kirby (Ravensworth), Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Ravensworth (Richmond,
Yorks).
Commemorated Pier and Face 3 A and 3 D, Thiepval Memorial.
Captain James Scott Bainbridge. 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Killed 22 March 1918
Commemorated Panel 31 and 32, Pozieres Memorial.
Corporal Thomas Lawrence Bainbridge, MM. 200861. 4th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Samuel James and Margaretta Annie Bainbridge, of 5, Castle
Terrace, Richmond, Yorks. Killed 23 April 1917. Aged 25.
Born Richmond (Yorks), Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Richmond.
Commemorated Bay 5, Arras Memorial.
Private Thomas Cole. 28271. 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son
of Ben and Jane Cole, of Newsham; husband of Margaret Ellen Cole, of Newsham,
Barningham, Darlington. Killed 23 June 1917. Aged 35.
Born Gainford (Durham), Enlisted Dalton, Resided Newsham.
Buried DICKEBUSCH NEW MILITARY CEMETERY EXTENSION.
Private Herbert Edmondson. 238223. 2nd Battalion Prince of Wales's
Own (West Yorkshire Regiment), formerly 3136 Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 24
April 1918.
Enlisted Richmond (Yorks), Resided Richmond.

Private Edward Frankland. 20387. 10th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Only son of the late Thomas and Eleanor Frankland. Killed 17 July 1916. Aged
31.

"Edward Frankland is recorded in the 1911 Census as living in the Ravensworth
district as a Gamekeeper.
CWGC list two soldiers named Edward Franklin and three E Franklin. I have
checked the data relating to all five by cross reference to SDGW and none
were either born or lived in Yorkshire let alone Ravensworth.)

Ravensworth. Killed 9 November 1917. Aged 20.
