The First World War Memorial in St. Matthew's Church, Hutton Buscel, is a marble plaque commemorating 4 soldiers who lost their lives in that war. Two of those commemorated were soldiers who had served in the Yorkshire Regiment.
Additionally, there is a family memorial to two members of the Barber family in the church, one of whom was an Officer of the Yorkshire Regiment. This memorial is a brass plaque.

(John Thomas Barker was born in Hutton Buscel, and in the 1911 Census was

that he was younger than his stated age, - enlisting on 9 October 1914 with
a stated age of 17 years 0 months.
His Service Record exists, and from this it is seen that although he was PRESUMED
dead on 14 September 1916 his actual date of death was 9 October 1916. His
death was reported by the German military, as he had died in Kriegs Laz. 2
on that date.)
