The Gleadless, Hollins End and Intake War Memorial is situated at the junction of Hollinsend Road (B6063) and Ridgeway Road (A6102) in Gleadless, Sheffield.

The memorial is a sculpture of a soldier with rifle held in both hands. The figure stands on a plinth which bears the dedication and commemorations. The above photo of the memorial was taken in January 1990. Comparing this photo with that of the commemorations photographed more recently, below, it would appear that the memorial has subsequently been significantly cleaned and restored.

52 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 3 in the Second World War.

2 soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on the memorial.

Lance Corporal James Burgin. 10127. 2nd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mr. W. F. and Mrs. E. A. Burgin, of 1, Victoria Rd., Gleadless, Sheffield. Killed 12 March 1915. Aged 25.
Born Heeley (Sheffield), Enlisted Sheffield, Resided Gleadless.
Commemorated on Panel 12, LE TOURET MEMORIAL.

Private John Staton. 34177. 2nd/5th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, formerly 24002 the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Staton, of 27, Loxham St., Great Lever, Bolton, Lancs. Killed 20 July 1918. Aged 22.
Born Intake (Sheffield), Enlisted Sheffield.
Commemorated on the SOISSONS MEMORIAL.
