The War Memorial for East Howle and Crossings is located outside the Ferryhill Town Hall, beside the War Memorial for Ferryhill itself. The memorial is a cross inscribed "Sacred to the Memory of the Men of East Howle and Crossings who Gave Their Lives in the Great War 1914 - 1918".

Beneath is the inscription "Pass not this stone in sorrow, but in pride, and may you live as nobly as they died."

On the rear of the memorial are the names of three men who lost their lives in the Second World War.

Of the 21 names for the First World War, 2 are for soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment. Details are as below.


Private William Dunn, 19638. 10th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 4 October 1917.
Born Bishop Auckland, Enlisted Ferryhill, Resided East Howle (Ferryhill).
Commemorated Panel 52 to 54 and 162A, TYNE COT MEMORIAL.

Private Robert Scott. 19639. 10th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Husband of Mary Scott, of New Rows, East Howle, Ferryhill, Co. Durham. Killed 7 January 1916. Aged 33.
Born Durham, Enlisted Ferryhill, Resided East Howle.
Buried CITE BONJEAN MILITARY CEMETERY, ARMENTIERES.
