The First World War Memorial in St. Mary's Church, Chigwell (Essex), is an oak rood screen with a central opening and two panels on each side. The top rail bears the carved quotation picked out in gold and has a small plain cornice. Each of the four side panels have openings at the upper two-thirds, the lower thirds comprising panels bearing the carved inscriptions picked out in black. All five openings contain finely carved tracery towards the top.

39 names are commemorated for those who lost their lives in the First World War. The names are shown against the year that they died.

We are very grateful to oldpicruss who has posted photos of the commemorations on Flickr, and who has given us permission to use his photos on this website.

One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this memorial.
