Kildale, St. Cuthbert's Churchyard. 2 Commonwealth War Graves from the First World War, one of which is for a soldier of the Yorkshire Regiment.


Private Robert C Etherington. 18985. Yorkshire Regiment, transferred to transf. to (654960), 352nd Prisoner of War Coy (Labour Corps).
Son of Christopher and Selina Etherington, of 10, Seamer, Yarm-on-Tees. Born at Baysdale Abbey.
Died 25 February 1919. Aged 41.

Private Etherington's grave is unique in that his family have chosen to place the Memorial Plaque (the "Dead Man's Penny" that was presented to a soldier's family) in front of the headstone..
