Hull Western Cemetery contains 395 burials from the First World War, and 100 from the Second World War.

Four soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are buried in this cemetery.

"BORN HESSLE, HULL 1897. SON OF HENRY & FRANCES KATE WOODWARD. BROTHERS HENRY, CHARLES & WILLIAM WOODWARD – 31 MASON STREET. WORKED AS AN ERRAND BOY AND COMPOSITOR IN A PRINTING WORKS.
ENLISTED HULL, 04/12/1915. POSTED TO FRANCE 02/07/1916 TO 4/10/1916. DISCHARGED 11/06/1917, WITH HEART DISEASE, AGGRAVATED BY ACTIVE SERVICE. HIS ARMY RECORDS DESCRIBE HIM OF ‘VERY GOOD’ CHARACTER
