The Organ in the Wesleyan Methodist Church for Briggswath and Sleights has been dedicated to the memory of the members of the parish who lost their lives in the First World War.
10 names are commemorated, including one woman and one soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment.

The church is located at the foot of Carr Hill Lane in Briggswath, which is just over the River Esk from Sleights railway station and the village of Sleights.

Private Edwin Johnson. 18990. 2nd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Alfred and Mary Johnson. Killed 2 July 1916. Aged 22.
Born Sleights (Yorks), Enlisted Whitby, Resided Sleights (Yorks).
Buried DIVE COPSE BRITISH CEMETERY, SAILLY-LE-SEC.
