The War Memorial for Berrington, Shropshire, is situated outside All Saints' Church, Berrington.

The main (upper) commemoration is dedicated
TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY/ OF THE FOLLOWING/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ FOR THEIR COUNTRY/ IN THE GREAT EUROPEAN WAR/ 1914 - 1918.

15 names are on this plaque, - a photograph of which is below. Of these names, one is for a soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment.

The lower plaque commemorates those who died in the Second World War. Three names are on this plaque.


Private Frederick Bertrand Williams. 2543. 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 25 April 1915.
Enlisted Northallerton.
Commemorated on Panel 33, YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL.

Philip Morris (<philip150@btinternet.com>) provides the further information that Private Williams was born in Cound, and was the son of Mr H Williams of the School House, Berrington.
